The Itinerary
Day 1: CHRISTCHURCH – LAKE TEKAPO
Prepare for an incredible first day as we head for the turquoise waters of Lake Tekapo at one of New Zealand’s most insta-worthy spots. Explore the local bike trails before you relax in the lakeside hot springs for some stargazing at the world’s largest Dark Sky Reserve.
Day 2: Lake TEKAPO – QUEENSTOWN
Today we’ll head to the adrenaline capital of New Zealand – Queenstown! Before we head off you’ll have time to do a few activities or fit in any walks you didn’t do yesterday. Once we arrive, we’ll head to your accommodation for the next three days and get you settled in then it’s off exploring!
Day 3: CORONET PEAK
Spectacular roller coaster terrain makes Coronet Peak one of New Zealand’s most exciting ski destinations. The field is wide and sunny with an astounding variety of runs, suitable for first-time skiers or boarders right up to the most experienced. After spending the day on the slopes, kick back with a beer, drop into a party or devour NZ’s famous burger – the Fergburger.
Day 4: THE REMARKABLES
The Remarks (as it’s known to the locals) is set in a vast natural amphitheatre with wide open trails, spectacular views, untouched snow, sun-soaked chutes and unforgettable runs. Queenstown’s highest ski field, 1943m, The Remarkables is great for first-timers to seasoned skiers and snowboarders!
Day 5: QUEENSTOWN – FRANZ JOSEF
Wave goodbye to Queenstown and hello to stunning glacier country. We’ll make sure to stop off at as many beautiful places as we can along the way, including Lake Wanaka and Lake Matheson if the weather plays fair. When we arrive in Franz Josef, your guide will get you all set for any activities you’d like to book tomorrow and show you where you need to be. You’ll check into your accommodation for the next two nights and then we’ll head out and get some drinks at the local watering hole.
Day 6: FRANZ JOSEF
Today is a day packed full of fun and icy beauty – you can hike around it, on it and even through it. You’ll spend the day doing those activities that were booked yesterday. There’s heli-hiking, taking you up and on the glacier itself for a bird’s eye view of the ice. Prefer something at a lower altitude? Quad bike, kayak or relax in glacier hot pools before kicking back with a cold drink to soak it all in.
Day 7: FRANS JOSEF – CHRISTCHURCH
After a final brekky, it’s back to where we began, Christchurch. The South Island’s biggest city is a vibrant, creative centre badly damaged back in 2011’s earthquake, but through Kiwi spirit, it has been rebuilt to its former glories. If you have some time, check out the cool pop-up cafés and grab a souvenir from one of the quirky shops. Unfortunately, this epic journey is at an end. Fear not, we’ll hug it out and leave with stacks of great memories.
